The work of artist Choi Young-wook always stems from one fundamental question: "What traces does life leave behind, and where do those traces flow?" He has explored this question under the name of 'Karma' for over 20 years. Karma is not merely the title of a series, but a central concept that moves his painterly world, an attitude toward existence, and a structure that defines how he relates to the world. For the artist, the lines of the moon jar are not representations of actual cracks, but drawings that contain his story. In the way these lines meet, part, and reconnect, he reads the cycle of life. Through this process, he arrived at the title 'Karma'—a name that holds the belief that a life lived with dedication ultimately returns as affirmation, rather than remaining within a specific religious interpretation. This exhibition consists of four sections: exploration, discovery, internalization, and expansion. These four journeys transcend formal divisions, flowing through the artist's 30-year body of work and visualizing the trajectory along which his painterly life has matured. This is an exhibition where viewers, following the artist's journey, can recall their own karma and spend time quietly reflecting on their own lives within their inner worlds. This exhibition aims to be a small opportunity to open the door to such contemplation.
